SCORING CRITERIA

There are three qualified judges per category that will judge a routine based on:

  • Technique

  • Execution of Performance

  • Choreography

  • Overall Impression

There is a maximum of 100 points per judge for a total of 300 points.

No prompting is allowed by dance instructors. Any routine that receives promptings from an instructor will impact the judges score and can be disqualified.

If any routine exceeds the allotted amount of 4 Acro tricks that has been permitted, a penalty of 1 point per judge will be deducted for each trick over the allotted amount.

If any routine, music selection, costume or gestures are found to be inappropriate by the judging panel, there will be a penalty of 5 points per judge (judges decision) or will be stopped or disqualified.

In the event of a tie for an overall scores, ties will be awarded. Being we have different judges for different categories and routines are not necessarily judged by the same panel per routine, we will not ask the judges to break a tie. Both routines will be awarded.

All photogenic entries will be prepared and returned to the studio director or independent dancers at the completion of the awards ceremony by an Aspire staff member in the boardroom. All video critiques will be emailed to the studio directors or Independent dancers via Dancebug within 72 hours of the completion of competition.

All decisions and judges scores are final and cannot be contested.
