GENERAL RULES

  • All participants/guardians will be required to sign a liability waiver that must be turned in when payment is submitted.

  • Absolutely no flash photography.

  • Absolutely no live streaming, photographing or Tik Tom’s are permitted in any changing room or changing area.

  • Video, photography and any type of live-streaming are permitted for your own routines only. If anyone is found to be recording or live-streaming routines that are not from their own schools, penalties and/or disqualification will occur.

  • Contestants must perform in their scheduled order unless given special permission by Aspire staff.

  • As a show of respect and sportsmanship, entering and exiting the ballrooms during a routine is strongly discouraged. If you must enter a ballroom while a routine is on the floor, we request you be as quiet as possible.

  • Dancers are not permitted to cross behind backdrops during routines or throughout competition weekend.

  • No prompting is allowed by dance instructors. Any routine that receives promptings from an instructor will impact the judges score and can be disqualified.

  • Lines and Groups will be offered in the Petite, Junior, Teen and Senior age divisions only.

  • In the event of a tie for an overall scores, ties will be awarded. Being we have different judges for different categories and routines are not necessarily judged by the same panel per routine, we will not ask the judges to break a tie. Both routines will be awarded.

  • In the event that an age division and category only has one entry in a line but there are one or more entries in the group division, the group and line divisions will be combined so no one is competing against themselves.

  • Props must be set up and removed in the total time allotment for routines. See the PROPS menu for further rules.

  • All performers and/or studios are responsible for supplying their own gymnastic mats for Acro routines. For the safety of performers, mats are encouraged.

  • All routines must have a copy of their music on USB as a backup when they come to the music table. If the music assigned to the entry in the portal is incorrect, we will than utilize the USB. If both the portal and USB are incorrect, the number will be scratched.

  • We are a family friendly event and ask that any music that may contain vulgar language or swear words have the “clean version” be submitted. Any music with offensive language will show a reflection on the scoresheets.

  • Entering into any category or age group and competing against one’s self is not allowed.

  • The same routine may not be entered into more than one category.

  • Overall Award Qualifications. All Adult/Pro division performances are ineligible for overall duo, trio and group awards in the talent portion of the competition. In addition, any dancer that has danced professionally or is considered a professional dancer will also not be eligible for overall awards regardless of age.   • Acro skills and tricks are permitted in all categories except Ballet and Pointe.

  • There will be a limit of 4 tricks per routine in all numbers with the exception of Acro, Open and Production numbers. Judges will be tallying tricks and if the maximum number allotted is exceeded, there will be a 1 point penalty per judge per trick that is over the allotted amount. Acro tricks consist of aerials, front aerials, back hand springs, back tucks, walkovers, forward rolls and all other basic gymnastic or acrobatic skills.

  • All venue rules and guidelines are to be followed at all times.

Aspire Performing Arts & Dance Challenge and the hosting venue are not responsible for personal injury or property loss. Sportsmanlike behavior is expected from contestants, teachers and families. Failure to comply could result in disqualification.
